Natural Looking Studio Photography

Creative, natural looking studio photographers in London

Studio Photography can be synonymous with overproduced, unnatural or “polished” imagery. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, and within itself takes a huge level of skill and experience to achieve well. In some cases though, this pristine look may not suit the brief in hand where the convenience of photographing in a studio is still needed. Well, we’re here to tell you that for once, you can in fact “have your cake and eat it”.

A British Seaside “Out of Season”

Man walking on the beach towards the underside of the pier

Walton-on-the-Naze

Our project “Out of Season” took us to Walton-on-the-Naze, a small British seaside town in Essex, to document the area just weeks before the British summer was officially due to kick in. We were curious to explore this coastline when it wasn’t filled with families lining the beach with deck chairs, rows of nurtured sandcastles, and people eating double scoop ice creams from a cone. How Much Does a Corporate Video Cost?

Interviewing Meliz Cooks

The “Ah-Ha!” moment – when it comes to value

I remember once sitting in my local barbers waiting for my turn to be called up, and seeing a plaque on the wall that caught my attention. It read; “good haircuts aren’t cheap, and cheap haircuts aren’t good”. I found this quote incredibly poignant, not only because it’s true, but because it’s relatable to so many aspects of life when seeking a professional service. We all know somebody who’s opted for the builder that was half the price of all the others, only to end up with half of their extension finished before the contractors disappeared. Now, this isn’t to say that service providers who are competitively priced are no good, some amazing creatives may often choose to reduce their prices on specific briefs if there is strategic reasoning to do so. But those that are established and have the experience to go with it, will often charge relevant to their standard of service and product they deliver. So how much does Corporate Video Cost? Well, there’s no quick answer to this, but I’ll try my best to explain how we go about it.

Build Your Story: Filming with the Samyang 85mm T1.5

Samyang 85mm T1.5

Filming with the Samyang 85mm T1.5

Having used some of the older generation manual Samyang lenses for my commercial video productions, I think I liked their low prices more than their actual lenses to be honest. Many years back, starting off in the industry you need to purchase what suits your pocket right? That’s just business sense! I lately revisited the idea of filming with the Samyang range with their updated Mkii Cine lenses. Continue Reading

Charity Event Video Coverage

Event Film At Woolston Manor Golf Club

Not only was it genuinely exciting to film this charity event video for Woolston Manor Golf Club (we love a little bit of golf over at Oh Brother Creative), but an honour to be able to document their annual Remembrance Day competition in support of the Royal British Legion. The club briefed us to produce a promotional film that encapsulated the spirit of the event, in an unobtrusive way. After all, this was a real-life competition, and we didn’t want want to put anyone off on their backswing! Continue Reading

SmallHD Focus Bright Review : A Hands-On Account

SmallHD-Focus-Bright

Hands-on with the SmallHD Focus Bright: A Review

So today I thought I’d give you my SmallHD Focus Bright Review.  As a professional in the video production industry, I’m not new to the world of SmallHD monitors, having previously owned the 501 full HD model. At the time it was a necessary purchase.  Quite simply because the rear screens on the A7s & A7sii are not far from unusable for commercial video filming. (Sony, PLEASE rectify this on the MKiii !). Mind you, having had a little play on the new Sony A9 and witnessing the crystal clear screen used on that, I’m hopeful that this upgraded screen will filter down their models. Continue Reading
